Why You May Not Be Losing Weight on Keto

-

The ketogenic diet commonly referred to as keto is a low-carb method of eating that is widely used by people who want to lose weight while at the same time improving their health. When using the ketogenic diet weight loss plan, you have to reduce your intake of carbs to about 50 grams per day.  Through this action, you will find it easy in reducing weight without having to go through a lot.  However, you need to implement the keto diet perfectly if you are to get the expected results.  Here are some of the things that may be making it hard for you to lose weight when using the keto diet.

  • Taking Too Many Carbs

One of the reasons why you are not losing weight when following the keto diet is consuming too many carbs.  In order for you to reach ketosis, a state where your body burns fat for energy instead of glucose, you must be able to reduce the intake of carbs drastically. Unfortunately, not many people achieve this simply because they are consuming more carbs than it is required.  To avoid finding yourself in this situation, you should consider tracking the carbs that you take on a daily basis. It is only then that you are set to maintain the recommended levels of carbs in your body.

  • Undiagnosed Medical Condition

At times, you may have difficulty in losing weight even after following the keto diet to the letter. When this is the case, you will have to talk with your doctor since you may be having an undiagnosed medical problem. Among the most common medical conditions that might make it hard for you to lose weight include polycystic ovarian syndrome, hyperinsulinemia, Cushing’s syndrome to mention a few. When having any of these conditions, you will start gaining weight instead of losing it. You should therefore treat the underlying medical issues before you can finally get the most out of keto and weight loss diet.

  • Consuming Too Many Calories

When trying to lose weight, you should try you level best to create a calorie deficit.  To achieve this, you have to reduce the number of calories consumed in a day. Alternatively, you can also burn calories in your body by taking part in physical activities such as hitting the gym. By paying attention to portion size and increasing, the number of physical activities you partake in, it will prove quite easy in achieving your weight loss goals.

Final Thoughts

Maintaining the exact same weight even after following the ketogenic diet to the letter should not be the reason why you can no longer use it. Simply examine the things that you may not be doing correctly, as it will go a long way in making sure you attain your desired body weight. Never shy away from asking for help, as it is the only way in which you can achieve success when using the keto diet in losing weight.
